Following the dissolution of Strikeforce, Spång was brought over to the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He made his promotional debut against fellow newcomer from Strikeforce Adlan Amagov on April 6, 2013 at UFC on Fuel TV 9. Amagov dominated the fight from start to finish, defeating Spång by unanimous decision. Following the loss Spang was released from the promotion.
On June 7, 2013 it was announced that Spång had signed with Resurrection Fighting Alliance (RFA). He made his debut against future UFC contender Alan Jouban on August 16, 2013 at RFA 9. After two back-and-forth rounds, Spang lost by TKO in the third.
